Over our 12 years of experience hosting wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthday parties and events of all kinds, we have gathered the essential ideas and ingredients for the most fun event that keeps everyone happy. Here is our top magical event ingredient:
Do a variety of things that please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time.
For example:
The Manor House AND the Festival Marquee (Giant Tipis) .
The champagne on the lawn under a 300 year old acacia with jazz trio AND a festival style party in the walled kitchen garden with live soul band on the deck of the tree-boathouse with a relaxed beer from the pavilion bar.
A luxury bedroom with roll-top bath, hand-made soap AND a quirky, fun orchard wagon or yurt with rocking chair decking in the Walled Kitchen Garden.
We're even wheelchair friendly with accessible bedrooms and bathrooms
THe day
For parties and events we provide; the whole site for 3 days, our organising experience and wonderful people to help you design your perfect event for up to 90 guests, two linked giant hat tipi marquees, the lawns, fully operational cocktail capable bars during the day in the garden room and by night in the pavilion to serve paid drinks or your BYO and up to 50 beds at discounted rates and more camping if required.
BLESSING/CERMONY
The lawn in front of the House has been the scene of some beautiful blessings* and drinks receptions with the 300 year old house, ancient acacia trees, stunning gardens, and pond as a back drop.
October to April when the giant tipis are down, you can hire your own marquee for the front lawn that attaches to the House, seating up to 100.
*Please note that we do not have a marriage licence for the formalities but there are many nearby register offices.
FOOD
Our chef owner has worked for Fergus Henderson and Gary Rhodes. So at Talton we are passionate about rearing our own food and growing our own, or sourcing local, ingredients. We also love to cook with wood ovens and BBQs. For all day events and receptions it's good to break the day down into food related portions. Canapés on the lawn, wedding breakfast in the giant hat tipis and a late night paella under the pergola while watching the bonfire.
TEEPEES/ENTERTAINMENT
We love hosting weddings. The Queen Anne Manor House in tandem with the festival atmosphere of the walled Kitchen Garden make a magical, unique venue. The two giant tipis seat up to 80 comfortably. There's a pavilion bar and we have full or part BYO options that can even include beer, lager and cider on tap. You get Talton exclusively for your use for 2.5 days so there's plenty of time to put your own spin on things too
LATE NIGHT
The evening spectacle... We provide a bonfire, a chiminea on the pavilion bar, path lanterns, t-lights and staff to help you set up. We have a diesel heater option and an Indian tented bar extension. We can also help you organise music, late night food stalls, magicians, fire jugglers, lighting technicians, PAs, generators and diesel heaters.
